Free parking

Visitors with disabilities may admit one accompanying carer free of charge when they select the child plus carer option.

Please bring relevant proof of entitlement such as a blue badge, or a Personal Independence Payments letter (issued by the DWP benefit office).

Accessibility:

The majority of the zoo is on a flat surface. Some paths are concrete nearer the entrance/indoor houses, whereas the paths around the majority of outdoor enclosures are made of hardcore and tarplanings. Some wheelchairs with larger wheels fair very well with these types of paths, others not as well. It depends on the chair. Cafes, toilets and most of our animal enclosures are accessible by wheelchair. On entry to the Zoo you will be shown the areas that are not accessible.

Between the car park and the entrance to the zoo, there is some loose stone. This stone makes it difficult for some children’s buggies & wheelchairs. Guests can park in front of the entrance whilst unloading/loading, but then the cars must be moved to the car park.

In the zoo, we regret that the ‘River Walk’ is not currently wheelchair friendly due to the steps.

Facilities:

There are toilets available, including disabled access toilets and baby changing facilities available near the tea room. These can be seen on the Zoo Map.
