About the event
These sessions are designed for parents, family members, and carers who want to actively engage with their children to enhance their communication skills.
The focus is on creating a supportive environment where children can develop their speech, language, and communication abilities.
Specifically for those whose speech and language is delayed or those wanting to learn Makaton.
What is Makaton? Makaton is a method of communication developed over several years to assist children who struggle with natural speech. It incorporates both sounds and speech alongside symbols and signs derived from BSL. By combining these elements, Makaton aims to stimulate sounds and words while providing a visual clue. This approach helps children improve their communication skills, express their needs more clearly, and boost their self-esteem and confidence.
Within the session various Makaton signs will be explored, through movement, activities, music and props to engage and encourage learning and participation.
The focus of the session will be on FOOD and TRANSPORT. If you have any further questions regarding the session, please get in touch with Stacey at intertwinedne@gmail.com
